Client Services

We provide advice and guidance on the resolution of business disputes, including through direct negotiation, mediation and litigation. Examples of our services include early stage advice on contract termination and dispute avoidance; presenting or responding to claims; representation at mediation appointments; litigation management; representation in court proceedings; and drafting position statements.

The majority of our work concludes with a confidential, negotiated settlement achieved through direct negotiations, mediation and other forms of Alternative Dispute Resolution. Should the need for court proceedings arise, we have extensive court and trial experience.

We support businesses from all over the country as well as from Europe and North America. Simon has advised privately owned and listed companies, LLP’s and sole traders across many sectors including energy, electronics, manufacturing, property development, waste management, outsourcing, digital media, software development and professional motorsport.

Most of our new instructions arise from existing clients, referrals and recommendations.   Emmerson Law has developed strong relationships with other law firms and in-house legal teams. We regularly support firms and in-house teams who do not maintain a litigation capability, or we complement the skills of an existing team.

We do not make or receive any payment for referrals or recommendations. If we are not the best fit for a particular matter; or if the subject matter falls outside our area of expertise, then we will do our best to introduce you to another lawyer.

All of our professional legal work is undertaken by Simon Emmerson, who qualified as a solicitor in 1996 and has previously been a partner in three of England’s leading law firms (Laytons 2001-2004, Penningtons Solicitors LLP 2004-2008 and Manches LLP 2008- 2009).  Emmerson Law opened for business on 4 January 2010.  Simon has substantial experience of helping to resolve many legal, commercial and regulatory challenges including supplier and customer contractual disputes; shareholder disputes; warranty claims; and economic torts.

Away from the office, Simon's passion is triathlon and multisport racing.  He has represented the GBR Age Group squad at the European Championship level and is a World Championships qualifier.
